As a senior editor of Billboard magazine, Gail Mitchell writes
everything from feature stories to album reviews and editing web features. “I cover everything from pop to rock to R&B to hip-hop to country, jazz bands, gospel/Christian music,” says Mitchell, noting she is interested in music-related topics. This includes digital movements with Twitter, Facebook but still interacts with music in film and television .
Mitchell began her music journalism career at R&R in 1983 at the weekly trade publication Radio & Records. She then moved on to Inside Radio, a daily fax newsletter, as the VP/ Executive Editor at their west coast office. Following this position, Mitchell created her own writing & editing firm, The Write Focus.
She is also a trustee for the L.A. chapter of the Recording Academy, a member of the board for Loyola Marymount University’s African-American Alumni Association and on the editorial advisory board for L.M.U.’s alumni publication “Vistas.” She is also a member of the advisory board for St. Odilia Elementary School in Los Angeles.
Tramai Entertainment is proud to have Gail Mitchell as a speaker at our 2012 California Music Industry Summit.
